The current debate in Sweden on employees sharing in company profits and capital formation is primarily a struggle between ideologies. The central theme of this publication dwells around the differences between the basic views; without necessarily being Marxists one group claims that private capitalism is not politically acceptable any more and must be replaced. Suggestions for an increased spread of wealth have, however, also been put forward by those who still regard a market economy with a decentralized decision-making process in production as a necessary condition of a vital political democracy.
